The photographs above depict typical rendered block construction in Africa versus typical light gauge steel construction of similar structures in Africa. As the old phrase goes, a picture says 1000 words and little explanation is needed to describe the differences. Building with light gauge steel produces minimal waste as bamboo scaffolding is not needed, dozens of broken masonry bricks and mortar materials are not seen, foundations are smaller and require less excavation for footers and concrete slabs are constructed in a single monolithic pour. Thus job sites are clean and free of clutter to make for more efficient and higher quality workmanship. Roof trusses are straight and do not warp, rot, shrink, break at joints, get eaten by termites and fungus, or otherwise change their structural integrity that will lead to roof leaks. Light gauge steel building jobs are completed in a fraction of the time that it takes to build the same size rendered block structure.
